Pick 1 thing. Sell 1 thing. Donate the cash.
Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 4:37PM The concept's simple. Pick 1 thing in good condition you no longer need. Sell that 1 thing. Donate the cash to any of the reputable, nonprofit relief organizations of your choice.
The 1 'thing' relief organizations need most is CASH. Watch the brief video then read on below....
Many people are concerned about conditions in our own country as a result of the 'great recession' and are debating whether to get involved with Haitian relief because of our own troubles at home.
If that describes you, pick 2 things. Sell 2 things. Donate the cash from one to Haitian relief efforts. Donate the cash from the second to a local nonprofit involved in helping your own community.
If nothing else, media streaming through our screens of the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti is a reminder. There is a bigger perspective through which we all can view the problems in our own lives. And perhaps, count ourselves most fortunate.
How to sell it? Consignment and resale stores exist to turn under-loved, gently used goods into cash. Many have in place, or can easily accomodate, a program for charitable organizations to easily raise cash by selling merchandise contributed by their supporters. Organizations need only promote the program to supporters. Supporters only need to drop goods at the consignment store to be sold. The stores handle the rest, usually, including mailing the check.
We all know there are other choices like selling online or holding a garage sale. They just require lots more effort. People are already busy. Click here for more information on How To Sell 1 Thing for Haiti.
